Review: adjectives, articles and action verbs

Adjectives are words used to describe nouns. Some adjectives tell what kind, others tell how many.

Articles are adjectives used to refer to a specific noun.  A, an and the are articles.

A verb is a word that names an action, or tells what the subject of a sentence is, or tells something about the subject.

Verbs tell what someone or something does, did or will do.

A verb must agree in number with its subject. If the subject is singular, a singular verb form must be used. When the subject is singular, you usually add –s or –es to the verb.

When the subject is plural, use a plural verb form – which usually does NOT have an added –s or –es.

Examples:

Half-Chicken walks to Mexico City. (singular subject)

The guards stop Half-Chicken at the gate. (plural subject)
